This antique lithograph dates back to 1862, and is a botanical work by listed artist Walter Hood Fitch (1817-1892). W.H. Fitch was a botanical illustrator born in Glasgow, Scotland. He completed approximately 10,000 drawings for various botanical publications throughout his career. I believe this original litho has been hand painted with museum grade watercolor accurately resembling the plant that is pictured. It features "Antheurium scherzerianum", commonly known as the Flamingo Flower or Pigtail Plant (also know as "Heart Flower", "Painted Tongue", and "Tail Flower"). This plant is native to the rainforests of Costa Rica and grown in greenhouses and can be kept as house plants.

Thiswonderful antique lithograph was part of an estate. It has been beautifully custom framed with a high quality bright orange enameled metal frame that matches the orange tones in the print. It includes a peachy-orange wide matte (see photos for detail). There is a label on the back of the picture from the gallery that originally framed and likely sold this print. It measures about 12 1/4 inches in height and is 9 1/4 inches wide (framed), portrait configuration, a nice small-medium size that will work on a shelf, cubby, or on the wall.

The antique lithograph is in very good condition - no holes or tears, colors bright and vivid. The matting is in great condition with no spots, holes, cracks or tears. The frame has some very minor scuffing, consistent with age, but is also in good condition. The print is firmly mounted on the frame - nothing loose. The glass is in good condition - no chips or cracks. The hanging bracket and wire are secure and sturdy.See photos for more details.
